It is a fact that over 80% of adults in the UK use alcohol for recreational purposes and whilst alcohol is as much a drug as cocaine or marijuana, we have been conditioned to see its use as normal and socially acceptable.
So society says that either you are a ‘normal’ drinker because you are in control, or where the volume and frequency becomes problematic, you’re a weak willed human being who is out of control and possibly even an alcoholic.
Indeed most people who call us regarding alcohol consumption are genuinely embarrassed about their dirty little secret because they see this dependancy or addiction as flaw in them. But at the same time, the thought of giving up drinking forever is terrifying.
