How Does NLP Work?

NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming

NLP is the practice of understanding how people organise their thinking, feeling, language and behaviour to produce the results they do.

It offers a definition of how the brain works (neuro), about how language interacts with the brain (linguistic) and how we use this interaction to get the results we want for ourselves and others (programming).

Where It All Began

NLP was initially created by linguist Dr John Grinder and Gestalt Therapist Dr Richard Bandler in the early 1970's.

Both men had a fascination with human excellence which charted a path for them to model behavioural patterns of selected geniuses and high performers across a number of different industries and areas.

What they found was that it wasn't simply the behaviour that set these people apart in terms of performance, but rather a combination of their underlying beliefs, critical thinking processes and the use of their imagination that allowed them to consistently outperform others.

NLP provides a set of tools and techniques for tapping into this insight as a means to help people perform better in relationships, in business, in sports and more generally in life.

The Map Is Not The Territory

A map of reality is not reality. Even the best maps are imperfect. That’s because they are reductions of what they represent. If a map were to represent the territory it looks to represent with perfect fidelity, it would no longer be useful to us!

It is also worth noting that a map can also be a snapshot of a point in time, representing something that no longer exists.

A key element of NLP is that we form our unique internal mental maps of the world and it's this internal map, rather than the reality of what is happening to us or going on around us that defines our experience in life.

Knowing this means we can start to effect some changes to our own particular map as a means to live a happier and more abundant life.

Number Of Sessions
1 - 5

Sessions last up to 2 hours. The number of sessions will depend on the issue(s) you wish to resolve. For example - curing phobias requires 1 or 2 sessions whereas some addiction work may require up to 4 or 5.

We charge £300 per hour. Payment is due at the end of the session by card or bank transfer. Where we deem appropriate and where we can, we are happy to provide flexible payment terms or a discount.

Cancellation Policy

We will always be sensitive to clients needs and if we can change appointments around to avoid charging, which we usually can, we always will. That said, please be aware that any booking is subject to a rigid 24 hour cancellation / rearrangement policy. If we do not receive a minimum of 24 hours notice of a cancellation or re-arrangement, we reserve the right to charge for the appointment in full.

Confidentiality

A lot of our potential clients are concerned about confidentiality but just like doctors and lawyers, maintaining client confidentiality is of utmost concern and sharing anything outside of their sessions would be a violation of our code of ethics. We do not digitalise any of our client notes and the paper versions remain locked away until they are shredded a few months after we have finished working together. Over the years, when a client has been very sensitive to the issue of confidentiality, we have been more than happy to sign legally binding Non Disclosure Agreements.

Guarantees

Other than for smoking cessation, we do not offer any guarantees. As you will have seen via Trustpilot, our approach proves remarkably effective so if you come to us with a real determination to succeed, you'll have an excellent chance of rapidly achieving your goal.
