Overcoming Anxiety & Panic

At The Therapy Lounge, we use a combination of Advanced Hypnotherapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help you overcome anxiety and panic disorders, leaving you feeling physically more relaxed, mentally calmer and altogether more confident in your life and your future.

After experiencing anxiety or panic attacks, many of our clients say they feel lost, desperate and more scared than ever before. The physical symptoms of a racing heart, sweaty hands and a sickness in the stomach, together with the psychological symptoms of paranoia and mental 'floating', make for an incredibly unpleasant experience.

Because anxiety and panic are usually triggered by specific circumstances, many of our clients also talk about avoiding those situations where they expect to experience anxiety the most. Of course, this in of itself, can exacerbate the problem, especially if those situations involve work, socialising or travel.

In the treatment of anxiety or panic dosrders, it is important to understand that anxiety and panic do not form part of our physical make up, i.e. we are not born anxious or even knowing how to do anxiety! It is simply something we learn to do and like anything we learn, anxiety and panic can be unlearned.

Consciously trying to control anxiety or panic through rational thought alone can be extremely difficult and often ends up making matters worse. The reason for this is because what we focus on we tend to amplify, so trying to think our way out of anxiety can lead to us creating evermore anxiety provoking thoughts, which only serve to increase the symptoms.

The reason why we're successful at helping clients overcome anxiety and panic is because we are able to simultaneously retrain both the conscious and unconscious parts of your mind. As a result, all that old fear, anxiety and panic which have had such control over you, will easily and comfortably become a thing of the past.
