According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), in 2009 there were 2,878 drug-related deaths ain the UK. Currently if you are caught selling a Class A drug you will almost certainly receive a custodial sentence.
Now let's compare that to cigarettes. It is estimated that over 10 million British adults smoke. Shockingly, over half of these people will die from a smoking-related disease; that's over 100,000 deaths a year as a direct result of smoking.
From these facts alone it is clear that smoking has a far greater impact on society than illegal drugs, yet no-one is sent to prison for the supply of cigarettes and tobacco products that are sold legally under a licence provided by the UK Government.
So does the Government really want us to stop smoking?

According to the World Health Organisation, 20 per cent of adults around the world are overweight. In the UK alone, 22 per cent of men and 24 per cent of women fall into that category, making us the fifth most obese country in the developed world.
In a shocking new report it is claimed that one in eleven deaths in the UK can be attributed to obesity. That's on the same level as smoking, i.e. over 100,000 needless deaths every single year as a result of our inability to control what we eat.
So it's clear that we are in serious trouble unless we can learn how to control what we eat and therefore no surprise that the global diet industry is big, big business. With trends as they are, it's unlikely ever to run out of customers. So the big question is: do diets really work?

Facebook has become a global phenomenon that now defines people's social lives, shapes relationships and consumes leisure time.
However, as with all great innovations, there is a downside. Due to the very nature of social media, a new breed of 'jealousy-provoking triggers' has been created and these have consequently had a profound impact on people's relationships.
The big question is: is Facebook making us paranoid?
