Weight loss hypnotherapy helps woman overcome years of struggle
by William Hobson
An unnamed colleague of Daily Mail journalist Sarah Stacey has found success after 'decades' of weight loss through weight loss hypnotherapy.
In her 'Health Notes' column last Sunday, Stacey lets her anonymous friend tell the story of how hypnotherapy has helped her find a new and healthy relationship to her food.
The woman says that she believes she has always battled to control her weight and that though programmes such as weight watchers offered some relief at first, eventually she came to realise that "food had come to rule my life." Wracked by guilt and panic over indulgence she would abandon the programme to save face at the weekly weigh in, eventually becoming heavier than she was when she started.
Last year the woman decided to see if hypnotherapy would help her change her diet, her exercise regime and her overall lifestyle for lasting weight loss where other methods had failed.
Originally sceptical, the woman says that the weight loss hypnotherapy had immediate effects on her levels of physical activity. Rather than taking the tube directly to the office, she got off at the connecting station and walked the rest of the way.
Christmas and the festive feasts got in the way of her long term success though. After New Year she returned to the hypnotherapist determined to find a solution. Looking at her 'food diary', the woman says that she discovered alcohol consumption undermined her subconscious willpower to change her ways.
After giving up alcohol for a month the woman says that the weight loss hypnotherapy has had success. Four months later and now drinking alcohol only occasionally, the woman says her "Portion sizes have halved" and "when I feel full I stop eating"; a "first" for her. Her indulgences are now moderated and just "one square of chocolate gives [her] the sweet kick [she] crave[s]".
"Although I don't weight myself, I know it's working because my clothes are looser by about a dress size," says the Daily Mail worker. "Best of all, the diet linked stress and anxiety has gone."
