Fat-fighting group battling it out for holiday
by Deborah Bates
A group of Tyneside residents are battling it out to win a holiday - by seeing who can lose the most weight over a period of 12 weeks.
According to the Shields Gazette, five fat-fighting locals were chosen to take part in the Biggest Loser competition. Whomever loses the most weight will eventually win a £500 holiday, thanks to a local business owner.
The trainer helping them shed the pounds, Paul Mort, called the competition an "excellent opportunity". He also revealed: "We carefully chose the people for this competition and they were grilled at length of ensure that they were totally dedicated.
"We hope that the competition...will provide added motivation and make it easier for our finalists to stick at their new regime. The holiday is an exceptional prize and our deserving winner will enjoy it thoroughly."
Hopefully the five contestants - Chris Lawson, Lynn Shields, Michelle Hall, Hannah McKay and Helen Tiernan - will improve their overall health throughout the competition. Although they'll have plenty of support in terms of getting through their exercise routine, overcoming their cravings for unhealthy foods might prove more challenging.
By combining their gruelling workout routine with weight-loss hypnotherapy, they might have a better shot at shedding the pounds. Therapists are trained to help them deal with any underlying issues relating to food, so by sorting themselves out both physically and mentally, they could really improve their chances.
Mort explained why he is so dedicated to the cause in the Jarrow & Hebburn Gazette, stating that as he used to be overweight, he can empathise with those going through the same thing.
"I enjoy helping others to change their lives and get slim again," he concluded.
