Hypnotherapy to help insomnia sufferers

by Sarah Howard

A survey compiled by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has found that over one in 10 people do not get enough sleep on any given night.

Insomnia is becoming a more widespread condition, with worries about finances, work or family often keeping people awake. Online health resource Chiroeco.com reports that there are measures that can be taken to alleviate insomnia, which can cause exhaustion, depression and anxiety.

As well as cutting out caffeine, making time to relax, eating healthily and making sure your bedroom is dark, the health community suggests that hypnotherapy can train the brain into allowing sleep to occur, alleviating feelings of worry and stress. Accessing both the subconscious and conscious parts of the brain, to channel anxieties and panic is a primary focus of hypnotherapy. London based practices offer insomnia hypnotherapy as part of their treatment portfolio, but practices across the UK are realising the importance of hypnotherapy as an effective treatment in the fight against this debilitating sleep disorder.

Hypnotherapy can aid the body to sleep more by addressing the root causes of insomnia. Perhaps most vitally, sessions can help an individual to handle stress better in everyday life, such as in the workplace. It is advisable after the initial treatment, to obtain support treatments to make sure that any feelings of worry are addressed on a long term basis.
